The Knit Whitz meet each Thursday in the Library from 10:00 - Noon.  They knit prayer shawls, lap robes, sweaters, caps, slippers and mittens.  Many of their items show God's love to those in need either as they wheelchair bound, cancer patients or just in need of prayer.  Knit Whitz time is a time of fellowship, fun and prayer.  Any level, free yarn just bring your own needles.

Ivy League

The Ivy League is a support group for people who sometimes feel that they just need a little help.  We take our   name from ivy, a small plant that looks fragile.   But just give it a little support, and watch it go!    Some of our members are having a hard time due to life circumstance, loss.  Others have ongoing problems.    The members help each other with emotional support,  sometimes advice, caring and laughter.    We always serve tea, but members feel free to bring a soft drink if they desire.   Call the church office,  816-254-6900, and ask for the Ivy League to be put  in touch with the facilitator.   Ivy League meets on Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:15 or so.

United Methodist Women

First Church has three UMW groups that gather for a time of fellowship and friendship with other women.  The program provided varies by group and month.  Contact the church office for more information.  The groups meet:

Good Samaritan Circle  2nd Wednesday 10:00 am at Church

Sunshine Circle - 3rd Wednesday 10:30 am at Church

Patience Circle - 3rd Thursday 7:00 pm at various locations

United Methodist Men

The men's group meet on the first Saturday of most months.  Breakfast is served.  The usual agenda is a devotional, program speaker and business meeting.  All men in the congregation are welcome.  There are no dues, but a collection is taken to offset the cost of breakfast.  David Sage is the president and Don Rohr is vice-president and treasurer.

The club organizes the church's food booth operation at the annual Santa-Cali-Gon festival, but it depends on volunteer workers from throughout the congregation.  Also, it provides various capital improvements, supports church youth for summer camp and sponsors a church-wide Valentine Banquet.

Next meeting: 7:30 a.m., Saturday, March 6

2010 Valentine Banquet - Thursday, February 11.
