Youth

Living Christ’s love by Connecting Faith to Life through passionate worship, genuine fellowship and tangible outreach

“When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.”  -Judges 6:12

“What is a yoot?” -Judge Chamberlane, My Cousin Vinny

Who are the Mighty Warriors?

We are the students of Independence First United Methodist Church. We aren’t the future, we are now! We are active, engaged, and serious about living our faith. We worship, pray, study, and grow together.

We meet from 6-8pm Sunday nights. We welcome any youth. Regardless of race, gender, orientation, or socioeconomic class. All who are made by God are welcome to walk with us on our journey of Faith!

Our Vision

Living Christ’s love by Connecting Faith to Life through…

Linking    (intransitive verb \lingk\ from the Old Norse hlenkr or “chain, link,”)

…anything serving to connect one part or thing with another; a bond or tie: to become connected by or as if by a link linking.  Or in Other Words, we believe Genuine Fellowship is coming together in an inclusive community that removes barriers through sharing experiences and seeking God so that all may experience the strengthening, reconciling transformation of the Holy Spirit.

Accomplishing    (intransitive verb \uh-kom-plish\ from the Middle French acompliss or “to fulfill, fill up, complete,”)

…to bring about a result by effort; to succeed in reaching a stage in a progression; to bring to a goal or conclusion.  Or in Other Words we believe Tangible Outreach is answering Christ’s call to serve by using our youthful energy and exuberance to model acts that spread the gospel and introduce faith to others which will help us grow as well.

Praising (verb praz\ from Old French preisier or “to prize or value,”)                                                                                                                                   …expressing approval or admiration; the offering of grateful homage in words or song, as an act of worship.  Or in Other Words we believe Passionate Worship is showing deep devotion to God in every moment of life and especially when gathered with the church. In worship we will seek to fully participate, experience, and live out the gospel in order to better strengthen our connection with God
and each other.
